Looking for a fun and educational activity while Des Moines Public Schools are out of session? The Science Center of Iowa has you covered with our engaging School’s Out at SCI day camps! Our camps are designed to spark curiosity and inspire young minds with hands-on experiments, interactive exhibits, and exciting STEM challenges. Each day is packed with fun activities that will ignite a passion for science and exploration.
Extended Care AM
Morning Extended Care is available from 7:30 AM to the start of camp.
Extended Care PM
Evening Extended Care is available from the end of camp to 5:30 PM
Weekly Camp Lunch
Hot lunch for on-site camps fresh from the SCI Cafe.
Summer Camps Grade 4th-5th
Summer Camps for children entering 4th-5th grade. Science Center summer camps are held Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM.
Summer Camps Preschool
Summer camps for potty-trained 3—and 4-year-olds. Pre-K camps are held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Lunch is not offered for Pre-K camps.
Summer Camps Grade 2nd-3rd
2nd-3rd grade camps are appropriate for children entering 2nd-3rd grade in the fall. Science Center Summer camps are held Monday- Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Summer Camps Grade K-1st
Summer Camps for children entering Kindergarten through 1st Grade. SCI Summer Camps are held from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Summer Camps Grade 6th-8th
Camps for children entering 6th-8th grade. SCI summer camps are offered Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
