2nd–3rd Camps

The Science of YUCK
Yuck, gross, disgusting! Experiment with slime, stinky smells, and sticky messes while exploring the science behind them.
STEM Goal: Make predictions and test hypotheses through sensory-based science experiments.

Bridge Builders

Step into the shoes of an engineer! In Bridge Builders, campers explore the art and science of connecting places, spaces, and people.

STEM Goal: Campers will learn to use the engineering design process to plan, build, test, and improve their structures.

Inventor’s Workshop
Have a great idea? Bring it to life! Design, build, and test your own creations while learning the basics of invention.
STEM Goal: Strengthen engineering skills through prototyping, problem-solving, and creativity.

Rockin’ Rocks & Fossils
Dig into the past! Explore rocks, minerals, and fossils while learning how the Earth has changed over time.
STEM Goal: Build foundational knowledge of geology and paleontology through observation and classification.

Vertebrate Zoology
Investigate animals with backbones! Explore the key differences between mammals and reptiles and what they share.
STEM Goal: Compare vertebrate groups while exploring biology, habitats, and ecosystems.

Sense Science
Use your eyes, ears, and nose to explore the world around you in this sensory science camp!
STEM Goal: Explore the science of sound, scent, and light through observation and experimentation.

Semiquincentennial Science

Join us in a hands-on camp where learners explore how science and innovation have shaped the United States over the past 250 years, and imagine what discoveries might shape the next 250.

STEM Goal: Campers will connect past breakthroughs to present-day technologies and design creative solutions for the future through experiments, engineering challenges, and inquiry-based exploration.

STEM Stories
Every discovery has a story. Learn about great scientists of the past and present—and create your own!
STEM Goal: Understand the scientific process while building literacy and communication skills.

Robot Technology

Our robots are fully charged and ready to go – are you? Get ready for hands-on mechanics as we explore the world of robotics.

STEM Goal: Increase interest in robotics and gain experience and knowledge with circuits, basic coding and engineering.

iEarth: 2nd-3rd Grade

Explore nature in this low-tech offsite camp located at MacRae Park. Each day, campers will explore the ponds, trails, and playground of MacRae Park and learn about ecology, environmental stewardship, teamwork, and nature. This is an off-site camp in collaboration with Polk County Parks and Recreation, located at MacRae Park. Hot lunch is not available for iEarth camp.
