Girls in Science Festival workshops are included with general admission to Girls in Science Festival. All participants must register to enter the workshop. Registration will open on the day of Girls in Science Festival. Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

10:30-11:30       Soldering Workshop (ages 8+) (cap 10)

Use a real soldering iron to create your own light-up animal pin! In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore basic circuitry, learn how electrical connections are made, and practice precision skills used by engineers and makers. You’ll leave with a wearable creation and the confidence to say, “I built that!”

12:30-1:30         Loom Weaving Workshop (ages 5+) (cap 16)

Explore the art and engineering of weaving in this meditative, hands-on workshop! We’ll use a miniature wooden loom and yarn to learn foundational weaving techniques. Discover how patterns, tension, and creativity come together in both art and textile science. You are welcome to take your loom home so you can keep designing after the festival!

2:00-3:00            Machine Learning Workshop (Ages 8+) (cap 16)

Experience AI through an interactive introduction to machine learning. In this immersive workshop, participants will explore how computers learn from data, recognize patterns, and make predictions. We’ll play games and train a real machine learning model and see how your input shapes its decisions. No prior coding experience needed!
